Murdo wrote to the Transport Minister to raise concerns about the “poor” rail service at Blair Atholl.
He had been contacted by irate constituents who feel that the present service is virtually unusable for local rail commuters, leaving them relying on cars rather than public transport.
Commenting, Murdo Fraser MPS said: “My constituents feel that a ScotRail consultation on planned cuts to services was under publicised, and that had it been better publicised, there would have been a greater response.
“They have also told me that the 2019 summer timetable, prior to Covid, had six southbound trains stopping at Blair Atholl each day. This was reduced to four trains daily due to Covid, but ScotRail now proposes to make the change permanent.
“Unfortunately, this reduction affects daytime trains, meaning there is only one southbound train stopping daily at the station between 7.30am and 7.30pm. There are however, four northbound trains stopping at Blair Atholl in the same time frame, and seven trains in total each day."
